Our solar system is made up of eight planets orbiting around the star we call the sun, as well as the various moons that orbit the planets.For hundreds of years, curious scientists have been studying these planets and moons and learning more about them. Readers (Grades 3-5) will learn about the many methods astronomers have used to study our solar system, from the basic telescopes of the 17th century to today's advanced space probes.
