1840~1926，法國人。中產階級出生的美食主義者。因不知節檢樸素之道，時常處於借貸逃債中。但生活窮困時，畫面仍是顏色飽滿、神采亮麗，溢顯著快樂和寧靜。一生最愛花和畫，不能一天不作畫。主要畫油畫，題材是風景裏的海、水、花、人。為了畫出特定時刻裡光陰的姿態和表情，常一次畫十幅，又快又好。以「印象：日出」一畫，成為印象派的領導。
